We delivered Aeroparks a self-contained, scalable and fully integrated, real-time web-based software solution
When Aeroparks opened its doors in 2008 it had taken just three months to design, develop and implement the software and web front end critical to their online booking, vehicle and driver tracking and customer service systems.
Aeroparks is the superior and spacious car parking facility just minutes from Auckland Airport. They have over 850 designated tarsealed carparks available with free luxury transfers to and from Auckland Airport.
The Aeroparks team were very clear about what they wanted to create: an airport car parking experience completely different to any other in the market; one that brought together great service with an efficient back office. To do this they needed the right people and smart software that would continue to help them improve the Aeroparks’ experience for their customers. Additionally, they wanted the architecture delivered to be self-contained to facilitate future commercialisation.
Aeroparks was under intense time pressure. ‘Go Live’ was only three months away, the software had still to be written and people trained to use it.
How we flipped it
From their first meeting with us, Aeroparks knew they had found their software developers. “There are good programmers around, but not many that take the time to listen to your requirements so that they can interpret the needs of the business correctly,” says Jennie Greenfield (Marketing Manager). “Flipmind immediately grasped what we wanted to achieve and quickly walked us through a robust business strategy analysis and system conceptualisation process.” Clear documentation covering each component, the process flows and look and feel rapidly followed. This gave the Aeroparks team all the confidence they needed to approve the project before any asphalt had even been laid.
We delivered Aeroparks a self-contained, scalable and fully integrated, real-time web-based software solution to manage car park reservations and billing; predict the utilisation of the car park, shuttle seats, pick-ups and drop-offs; capture customer travel information; and provide SMS service notifications.
The End Result
Nearly four years on and the software system built for Aeroparks has received a glowing peer-review and become a commercial product in its own right for the airport parking industry worldwide. It is installed in one of the largest independent operators in Sydney, Australia with interest from around the world.
The productisation process has seen the introduction of full EFTPOS integration, Touch Screen POS functionality and an intelligent car park allocation algorithm. The algorithm automatically selects a car park based on factors such as the customer’s return date, the size of the vehicle and distance from the office – all so staff get to the cars faster. Additionally, operators are able to adapt their pricing almost anyway they want because of the advanced, JBoss Rules-based pricing engine.
The team at Flipmind have become an integral part of the Aeroparks business supply chain. “Michael and the guys at Flipmind are more than a third party they are part of our success,” says Jennie. “Flipmind continues to deliver exactly what we want and the system has yet to go down - they are outstanding.”
